Details have now been confirmed for the Golf Day this year which will be held on Friday 17th May 2013.
Tee off at 9:30am.

Location: Moor Park Golf Club, Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire

Price per participant : £60.00 (includes tea + sandwiches in club house during Prize Giving)

QUAL Annual Lecture

Tuesday 27^th March 2012 at the London School of Economics

“The military, politicians and people. Marching in step?”

General Sir Roger Wheeler, formerly Chief of the General Staff and Honorary Colonel of Queen’s University OTC, will deliver the 2012 lecture under the above title. He will address the subjects of relations between the military and politicians, recent deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan, the latest position with defence reviews and overseas commitments, and finally relations between the military and the general public and the issues of wounded personnel and bereaved families.

On graduating from Oxford Roger Wheeler followed his father into the Royal Ulster Rifles and immediately saw service in the Borneo Campaign of 1964. Before commanding 2^nd Bn. Royal Irish Rangers he was in Cyprus for the emergency in ’74 and then in Rhodesia with Field Marshal Carver for talks with Ian Smith. He served as Chief of Staff in the Falklands and Chief of the General Staff until 2000. Since leaving the Army he has been Constable of the Tower of London, and a director or military adviser to Eurotunnel, Thales plc, Aegis Defence Services and most recently the Chilcot Inquiry into the Iraq War.

Entrance to the New Academic Building is at the south-west corner of Lincoln’s Inn Fields. Car parking is normally readily available around the square without charge after 6.30PM.

Jack Boyle is out of work and determined to stay that way. He postures and drinks with his sidekick Joxer while the long-suffering Juno balances threats with cajolement to preserve the semblance of family in a squalid tenement flat. Their son Johnny, crippled fighting for the IRA, cowers indoors, terrified of reprisal; his sister Mary has joined the labour movement and is on strike.

Sudden news of an inheritance provokes dreams of escape but, even before their rowdy celebrations are done, reality asserts itself as a neighbour’s corpse is carried down the stairs – another victim of the bitter civil war. Mary falls for an educated man as the loans stack up. Tragedy ensues.

One of the great plays of the twentieth century, Sean O’Casey’s Juno and the Paycock offers a devastating portrait of wasted potential in a Dublin torn apart by the chaos of the Irish Civil War, 1922.

Theatre visit to Juno and the Paycock booked for Wednesday 22nd February

We’ve booked 25 tickets to Juno and the Paycock at the National Theatre on Wed 22nd Feb 2012 at 7:30.
